Ron Paul: Lincoln was an anti-war candidate just like me!

September 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

images-1.jpgTo all you doubters of my election campaign I remind you of this unlikely hero who would later become President of the United States of America–Abraham Lincoln. Today he is celebrated, but for much of his time in office he was actually despised. After all they killed him, like they are trying kill me. I look up to him.

Sure he was tall, and I’m not. He was an eloquent speaker who will be quoted in the annals of history, while I pander emotionally charged rhetoric to the kids in the rEVOLution. But outside of that, we have a lot in common. We are both known for our simple minded straight forward approach to honoring the Constitution and the intention of the Founding Fathers.

Consequently, a short history lesson on the Civil War and its relation to our present conflict in the middle-east would be an important reminder to many who think that war is a solution. What you need to understand is that Pres. Lincoln was very reluctant to go to war against the south. He did not want to be involved in other people’s battles. That was “their” problem. Lincoln was an anti-war candidate just like me!

But states rights, slavery and John Brown’s little insurrection at Harpers Ferry forced him into a position he never wanted to be in. Namely, to stand up against the forces of rebellion and to commit troops to war. A struggle that would cost the lives of nearly 600,000 soldiers and another 300,000 civilians amounting to approximately 3% of the U.S. population! And I say for what? Nearly one million dead in four years? Was that worth it?

In fact, his decision to go to war would tear the Nation in two for several generations. That is a terrible domestic war policy! (video) Then, like now, we have it all wrong. It is not an “either or” proposition of do we or don’t we go to war. We have no business going to war over how other people live their lives. The Civil War is a great case in point. They fought us because we were messing around with them down there!

Rudy Giuliani just doesn’t seem to understand that nor does the rest of the neo-con hijackers of our party. Of course, neither did Lincoln come to think of it.

If you would like to get the facts straight as to why Lincoln and the Civil War was a forerunner to our present wartime strategies and an example of the abuse of presidential powers, I suggest you do some serious study here. Of course I did it for you kids since no one but me has your best interests at heart. So, why bother.

You can trust me, I am a 20 year Washington insider. If you can’t trust us who can you?

Mike Huckabee vs Ron Paul vs Abraham Lincoln

September 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Last nights debate brought with it an interesting exchange with Mike Huckabee. While he is generally a nice southern guy, he is still terribly ignorant when it comes to understanding the significance of war. So I had to school him like I did that sly Italian from New York earlier this year. This was our exchange:

That tricky Huckabee made an allusion to Lincoln’s famous “A House Divided” speech. Lincoln thought it was cute to quote the Bible and suggest that A house divided against itself cannot stand. It was just another talking point to the ramp up for war. He was talking about slavery, individual rights and the role of states rights. He went on to say:

This necessity had not been overlooked; but had been provided for, as well as might be, in the notable argument of “squatter sovereignty,” otherwise called “sacred right of self-government,” which latter phrase, though expressive of the only rightful basis of any government, was so perverted in this attempted use of it as to amount to just this:

That if any one man choose to enslave another, no third man shall be allowed to object. That argument was incorporated into the Nebraska bill itself, in the language which follows: “It being the true intent and meaning of this act not to legislate slavery into any Territory or State, nor to exclude it therefrom; but to leave the people thereof perfectly free to form and regulate their domestic institutions in their own way, subject only to the Constitution of the United States. . .

Yeah, this is exactly what I have been saying! — I think? — Never mind, most of you have no idea what he is talking about anyway. State vs Federal vs Individual rights — just as long as I throw the word “Constitution” in it seems to work. That’s how I get away with this. It’s called the Department of Education which I intend to abolish unlike slavery under my system of non-intervention. It’s ironic though. The very educational system which has failed our youth, nevertheless each day breeds for me a new opportunity to actually get elected.

Ron Paul’s Revolution Requires No Pants

September 5, 2007 · Leave a Comment

To all my supporters:

One thing that has become increasingly clear to me is that you guys and gals are just a tad too up-tight. Look at the video below. Stop. Your starting to scare me. This is way too melodramatic. You already frightened everyone over the age of 30. There is not much left eligible to vote. I am like 72 years old and my ticker can’t keep up this pace. All this dooms day talk and revolution stuff has to be toned down because it puts an enormous burden on me. If I was for rEVOLutions what would I have been doing as a freakin Washington insider for 20 years and 10 terms? Are you guys clueless?

Kids. Get a grip. It is just a campaign. Lighten up a bit. I was just reading the RonPaul2008 forums and was shocked to discover the language some of the children use. The sky is not falling. The earth is not melting away. Life will continue when I am soundly defeated in the coming year. So come back down to earth and take a chill pill.

Listen, I have been pulling this chain for 20 years from a cozy office in D.C. and you don’t see me tearing my clothes off, selling my home and fleeing to the Texas hill country. But I will tell you, there might come a day when even I will have enough (i.e. Pres. Hillary). I will give you all a signal on that day. And thanks to YouTube everyone will see it quicker than Jesus returning in all His glory to show you a revolution you had no idea about and were not prepared for.

On that day, I will not wear pants!

Spread the word.
